Food Donations
Food donations are critical to the operation of the Food Closet. It helps keep our food purchases down. Donated food must not be opened and must not be past the expiration date on the label. Donated food items are ideally the same food you would buy for your family. In fact, many individuals buy an extra bag of food when they buy their weekly groceries and bring it by the Food Closet. Here is a possible shopping list:

DONATIONS FROM YOUR GARDEN
Donations from your Garden; If your garden or fruit trees overflow with produce, we’d like to receive your extras. Placer County has health safety rules that require that you to identify your name and location of your garden/orchard at the time of the donation in case there is a food safety issue and we need to identify the origination of the produce. We are sorry but we cannot use donated produce left on the porch.
Bring your donations to the Food Closet at 2985 Richardson Drive, Auburn, CA. 95603, Mon-Fri and last Saturday of the month, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. We will be happy to help you carry your donations into the building. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, ask the receptionist at the front desk.
