About the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet

The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet, Inc. was incorporated in November 1998.  Currently, there are eighteen sponsoring churches who  collaborate to operate the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet. The Food Closet is a demonstration of the belief that we have a moral and spiritual obligation to aid residents of our community who are hungry and in need. The food we provide meets the USDA daily nutrition requirements for each person in the family.  A total of nine meals are provided per person per month.  A family may visit the Food Closet only once every 30 days.  For a copy of the AIFC brochure, click here.

The Food Closet participates in the Federal Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) which utilizes USDA commodity foods through the Placer Food Bank.

The Board of Directors representing the participating churches governs the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet.

An annual report is produced to provide insight into the financial health of the organization.

The Food Closet captures statistics monthly on the number of families, individuals, and homeless who visit the food closet.

HISTORY:  The AIFC was formed in 1998 when four churches collaborated together to establish an interfaith food closet.
